What I Do: Pastor of Adult Discipleship

What I want you to know about me: I’m married to Shawnie and the father of Morgan, who turns three in June ’08. Fun times! I'm definitely an extrovert and a "dreamer" sort of visionary. I'm energized by being with people and "visioneering" together. I'm drained when working for long hours alone. I have done a bit of acting, raised goats and chickens in 4-H as a kid, I'm a licensed pilot, play the guitar, and I was a roadie for a band. I also worked in the technology sector for 14 years and I ran my own international sales consulting firm for six years of those years. I co-founded a coaching center for life coaching, relationship coaching and sales coaching.(www.centerforrelationship.com) I also enjoy working “at large” as a pastor in our community. This mostly involves weddings and couples coaching (www.pastormarklauer.com), but I also officiate over various ceremonies for those who have no church home. Great outreach!

What's on my iPod: Josh Groban, Dave Matthews, U2, Coldplay, countless others. Recently my preferences have shifted to jazz, instrumental and classical.

What I watch: The Office, My Name is Earl, Sports, American Experience, News

Books that have influenced me: Non-fiction: The Bible, Celebration of Discipline; A Theology as Big as the City; Houses that Change the World; Control Your Destiny or Someone Else Will; Face to Face: Praying the Scriptures for Intimate Worship; Spiritual Direction, by Henri Nouwen

Fiction (short list): Jingle Bugs, Pajama Time! Goodnight Moon, and Goodnight Gorilla (I have a 3 year-old- boy!); For grown ups… Angle of Repose, All the Pretty Horses, fun adventure from Michael Crichton will do, too.

What I like to do: Be with friends, travel, snow ski, golf, play guitar, read, spend time with my wife, Shawnie, and play & laugh with my son, Morgan.
