GOT TALENT?
Got a big smile ?Our ushers and greeters are some of the first smiling faces that welcome people to Calvary Church. This important ministry lets regular attendees and our guest know that they are welcome here! We all crave this small recognition. If you have a big smile and would like to serve in this capacity, please contact Matt Turner at mturner@calvarylg.com.

DIGGING DEEPER
FOR GREATER GROWTH
By: Pastor Bob Thomas,
Lead Pastor
We all want to live better spiritual lives,
but how do we do that? So many times, we try harder and harder, but get nowhere.
The Christian life is not about trying harder.
It’s about training - learning how
to close that gap between where we are and where we want to be, spiritually-speaking. There's a key element in doing that - reading and reflecting about God's Word. When we engage with God's Word, he does a work in us that no one else, including ourselves, can do. It sounds simple, but for many of us, it is not. We struggle to read the Bible and understand what it says.
At Calvary Church, we realize the importance of God's Word and its impact on our daily lives. So we want to help. But in order to do this, we need to commit to studying God's Word together. That takes time.
During the next five weeks, I'd like to ask you to do three things with us. First, join us for Sunday morning services. We will be exploring more about what God's Word actually claims to do in our daily lives. Secondly, beginning March 8th, my wife Nellie and I would like to invite you to attend a Bible study learning experience in the FLC Gym at 10:45am. During this time, we will share with you specific ways about how to study the Bible and get into God's Word more deeply. Services at 9:00am will not change. The 10:45am service will continue to feature live music, but the sermon will be provided on video.
Lastly, we want each of you to experience God's Word personally. This past Wednesday kicked off the season of Lent, a time known for giving up something. This season, I'd like to challenge you to take on something extra - reading God's Word. Let's read through the book of Luke together from March 1st through Easter Sunday and see what God does in all of our lives. Please join us in this exciting discovery.

HOUSE OF HOPE DEDICATION
Sunday, March 1st at 10:45am
Two years ago, Calvary Church purchased a home on Los Gatos Boulevard that had been a conern for the local police department. A few months ago, Calvary Church partnered with West Valley Community Services and Second Harvest Food Bank to transform this home into a source of hope for those in need in the Los Gatos community.
This Sunday, we will join together as a church family to officially launch the House of Hope. The House of Hope will serve as a food bank and resource center for people in the West Silicon Valley. In November, Calvary Church members brought in more than 20,000 pounds of food to feed hungry people in our community this year.
Join us for communion and special prayer as we dedicate this new facility for God's use and glory.

MEET NELLIE THOMAS
BIBLE STUDY LEADER
Why do you personally want to be involved in teaching a course on Bible study?
When I heard about our vision at Calvary to teach God's Word in a practical way, I was totally excited. I suggested co-teaching with a woman, and that suggestion quickly turned into a signed commitment.
My life has always been radically affected by God's Word. As a child, flannel graph stories and my pink New Testament whetted my appetite, even though I wasn't able to understand all that I was reading. The words written in red were extra fun to read. But I've never enjoyed listening to boring sermons or Sunday School lessons. If preachers and teachers didn't find God's Word life-changing, how could I?
It's our prayer that these sessions will break down walls and build bridges that create a hunger for personal time with the Lord through the study of the Bible. God's Word is filled with humor, action, depth of heart and soul. We hope you will join us for this upcoming adventure.
