ADOPT-A-CHAPLAIN REACHES FAR BEYOND THE WALLS OF CALVARY
By Sharon Meaney, Staff Writer
The church has left the building, and in some cases, the country.
As Calvary Church
reaches outside our walls to serve our community this Sunday, chaplains overseas are in need of supplies and goodies for our soldiers.
For over four years, Calvary's Adopt-A-Chaplain ministry has been shipping out donated items to chaplains who serve beside our troops.
"Our Marines and Sailors are most grateful for Adopt-A-Chaplain's continuous
and wonderful support," said Chaplain BB. "I cannot thank you enough for the long hours you and
your people put in; in order to provide such awesome care packages of love."
During the next two weeks, you can get involved personally in this ministry:
| 1 |
Bring in donation items on Sunday, May 17 or Sunday, May 24 (cookies,
snack bars, microwave popcorn, toiletries in travel sizes; get a full list
at www.adopt-a-chaplain.org) |
| 2 |
Pack supplies into boxes in D-105 on Sunday,
May 17. Items brought on the 24th will be shipped out at the
regular weekly shipping time. |
As we approach Memorial Day, it is the perfect time to get involved. Through the efforts of Calvary and its affiliates,
Adopt-A-Chaplian ships about 100 boxes a week -- boxes full of items that
provide comfort and happiness to those who diligently serve us and our
country.
"You have been a voice of grace to me and a resource of a great many
ministry multipliers," said Chaplain CR. "I can't thank you enough."

CALVARY HONORS MOTHERS WITH DONATION TO COMMUNITY GROUP
Last Sunday, Calvary Church honored women on Mother's Day with a donation of $500.00 to the Career Closet in San Jose. The Career Closet is an organization in San Jose that helps women who cannot afford to re-enter the workplace. This non-profit, volunteer-led organization provides professional clothing and helps restore confidence in women throughout our local community.
A donation was also made to the single moms attending the Spa Day this weekend.
