AT CALVARY
:
Many Prepare for Baptism on Sunday
Denise Boiko, Staff Writer

After a 45-year search for God, Richard Giguere will be one of the dozens to publicly be baptized this Sunday at Calvary Church. Richard desired the Lord, but didn't know how to find Him. For years, he relied on his own intelligence and experience. Although blessings came, they were shallow and temporary.

"The higher you climb, the farther you fall," says Richard, who explains that every effort led to emptiness and heartbreak.

Richard began a long search, visiting many churches and listening to several pastors. But the void remained. He never connected on a spiritual level where he most needed.

“I was so egotistical," says Richard. "I wanted God to prove Himself to me before He could have my attention.”

Richard's darkest hour began in the fall of 2008. "Many times I begged God and Jesus to take my pain away." Richard continues: "The clear reply was 'No, because it brings you closer to me.'"

Calvary Church played a strategic role in Richard's walk with the Lord. “Pastor Bob has touched my heart with his humble, honest, and relevant delivery of the truth...Here, I have felt the presence of God, cried for forgiveness and to forgive.”

Having experienced God's love and blessing through people at Calvary, Richard feels ready to lead by example: “It will be my honor to glorify Him with all that I am...I believe.”

Over 30 people are planning to be baptized with Richard on Sunday, June 28th for our special outdoor baptism service. For more information, click on the link below...

House of Hope

Dozens of people come to Calvary Church each month looking for hope. Some have lost their jobs. Others simply don't make enough to put food on the table for their kids. All just want some help to make it through the day. The House of Hope was designed to do that very thing.

In partnership with West Valley Community Services and Second Harvest Food Bank, Calvary Church purchased the small green house beside Koinonia and began stocking it with food for those in need. We even began a community garden behind the house to offer fresh fruit and vegetables to people who visit.

The House of Hope is currently in need of certain popular items that have been in high demand. If you are able, please pray about donating these items to those in need in our own community.
