BUILDING LIVES:

Got a little love to share? Every other month, Shining Stars hosts a respite for children with special needs and their siblings. Shining Stars needs special "tenders" to love on these children and have fun with them for the evening. No experience is needed. Nurse and trained staff are there to assist.  This is also a wonderful opportunity for families to provide disability awareness by including their children in the evening.  Contact Joyce Roberts 408.307.4348 or joyceconnection@aol.com for further information.

Calvary Groups: Go Deeper

Dear Calvary Family,

What do you like best Starbucks or Peets? Coffee drinks have become the accessory of choice as people walk into church on Sunday.  Personally I don’t touch the stuff I just stick to Diet Coke (with the occasional 5 hour energy drink).  But there is something that gives you more energy than even a double espresso; it happens when you have deep satisfying relationships with God and others.

The key to really knowing God is getting in his Word, not just on Sundays, but every day.  We believe that Calvary Groups can help tremendously. They provide opportunities for you to connect with others and study the Bible on a deeper level. Being in a group allows you to take part in healthy discussions, learn from other believers, and one of the most important things: find encouragement in your own daily growth with God.

Calvary Groups come in all shapes and sizes. If one doesn't work for you, we will help you find the one that will. We understand that participation in a group requires a commitment. Giving up one morning or evening a week may be a challenge, but I would like to personally encourage every one of you to get involved one of our Calvary Groups.  You will have a chance to sign up this Sunday or visit the Calvary Groups website (see link below).

We are better together,

Pastor Bob Thomas
Lead Pastor, Calvary Church

Youth Sports

YOUTH BASKETBALL SEASON KICKS OFF IN OCTOBER

Every year, hundreds of children and adult participate in Calvary Church's sports ministry programs. Clinics, leagues and special classes not only focus on skill and athletic training, but team building skills and spiritual disciplines as well - such as devotionals and scripture memory.

More than half of the children participating in the various sports programs offered by Calvary do not attend Calvary Church. In fact, many do not attend church at all. Sports Director, Michael Allen believes that sports can make a positive impact on the lives of kids and their families.

The fall youth sports season begins October 5. Registration is already in progress.

Stephen Ministry

STEPHEN MINISTRY IS READY TO HELP IN YOUR TIME OF NEED

Do you ever feel alone? We all experience challenges in life - times when we need the support of a caring friend to walk beside us in our journey.

Last Sunday, Calvary Church commissioned ten Stephen Ministers and two leaders who are now available to help individuals through life circumstances such as a chronic illness, death in the family, divorce or separation, miscarriages or other situations where you could use a friend . Each minister has completed 50 hours of training and is ready to help. All information is kept confidential.

If you or someone you know would like to connect with a Stephen Minister, contact Nicole at stephenministry@calvarylg.com.
