WILL YOU SHOW UP TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR AIDS?
On Sunday, October 18th, Calvary Church will leave the building to participate in the 20th annual Walk for AIDS in downtown San Jose. Last year, hundreds of people from Calvary Church and other South Bay area churches joined together under Team Beautiful Day to show support for the cause of AIDS in our community.
Leaders of our local AIDS Coalition were amazed at the turnout and support of area churches. "This is activism at its grass roots, where you actually get involved and do something," said Ray Mueller, Event Coordinator of the AIDS Coalition of Silicon Valley, after Calvary Church's participation in last year's event. "I would like to thank you for doing what Jesus would be doing."
This year, even more churches have decided to join the effort and walk and numbers are expected to top the 5,000 participants from last year. This united effort will not only bring together churches in our Valley, but it gives us the opportunity to interact with people whose paths we might otherwise never cross.
There is no cost to walk, but participants may fundraise for the event if they wish. Participants who raise $25 or more get a complimentary AIDS Walk T-shirt and lunch. All funds raised by Calvary Church go to benefit The Health Trust in San Jose. Opening ceremonies begin at 9:00am. Please take public transportation to the Discovery Children's Museum in downtown San Jose. Click on the link below to register.
