ENTER THE LAND FLOWING WITH MILK CHOCOLATE
By Dan Green, Guest Writer
As the days get darker and the leaves begin to fall, kids everywhere have one thing on their minds.....CANDY. Yes it’s that time again. Remember when you planned your route to get the most candy in the shortest amount of time? One pillow case full or two. You knew who had the good candy in the neighborhood and who didn’t.
This time every year, I get to be a kid again. As Moses, I lead the children of Calvary Church and our local community into a Land flowing with Milk Chocolate! It's AWANA's annual Trunk or Treat night!
On Sunday, October 25th, kids from the ages of 3 years through 6th grade come dressed in their favorite costume and roam the church parking lot in search of candy and other goodies. Parents pass out candy from the trunk of their cars, making this a safe alternative to other Halloween activities.
I love to watch the looks of glee as the kid's bags fill up, as parents and children chat in the parking lot, and the final” Thank you Parents!” that the kid's yell at the conclusion of the night. It’s a great time.
At the end of the evening, we return to our room. As the kids settle down (ya right!), we have the opportunity to share with them about their Heavenly Father -- how he freely gave us Jesus to be our Lord and Savior. and we get the chance to explain to the kids that God is their Heavenly Father.
This week, pray with us for the children who will hear that message and ask God that they will accept the greatest gift of all.
