One Warm Story
"Where is your coat?" The little boy sat shivering before school and looked up at his father's questioning stare. His parents didn't know what he had done, but he had to tell them...
On September 14, Calvary Church partnered with One Warm Coat, an agency providing warm clothing to men, women and children of all ages who desperately need coats this winter. Our church family responded and donated 109 warm coats for people in need. Among them was a little boy.
That Sunday, this little boy stood in front of the donation barrel in the church rotunda. He took the coat off his back and placed it in the bin. Now, he had to tell his parents what he had done.
Shamelessly, he looked at his father and said, "I gave it away for the homeless."
His father was speechless, but proud. His parents later told our staff that every time this little boy felt cold, he would think about how warm one homeless boy would feel. They expressed that they planned to purchase their son a new coat - a temporary inconvenience of going to a store. The homeless have a greater long-term problem.
